Events to go to in Sydney this week
this week as a labelled example of a Sydney week, not a list of real gigs and not Vivid.
Sydney’s famous nights are seasonal, and its pleasant weekends are local. Vivid lights the harbour in its own months. Sydney Festival fills January. Mardi Gras fills a late-summer fortnight. New Year’s Eve is one night and a set of road closures. The rest of the year is ferries, beaches, the Opera House when you have checked it, and whatever band is actually booked into a small room. This page keeps those things separate.
The cards below are examples. They are not real events, they do not link to tickets, and FeelingFlexi is not selling them. Circular Quay, Bondi, The Rocks, Surry Hills and Carriageworks are real. Their hours and programmes are not frozen. Check before you go. For a weekend of places rather than listings, read things to do in Sydney this weekend.
Example listings. The events on this page are samples that show the format. They are not real events; live listings come from ticket partners.
The weekend, as a sample: this weekend
Use Saturday for the coast or the Quay, and the evening for Surry Hills or a show you have confirmed. Sunday is the ferry or the garden, not a second late night plus a festival that is not happening.

What a Sydney week is usually made of
Music
Week-to-week music in Sydney is small rooms in Newtown, the inner east, and venues such as the Enmore when the bill is the reason you are going. The Opera House has its own calendar. Large park concerts happen, and they are announced properly when they happen. A sample card is not that announcement. Check before you go.
Food and drink
Surry Hills and Newtown are the dinner map. Chinatown is the rainy lunch. The Sydney Fish Market is worth it when you know which building is open, because the market has been moving to Blackwattle Bay. None of these is a ticketed festival. Book a real table if the night matters.
Nightlife
King Street and the Surry Hills lanes are the walkable nights. The Rocks is better early. Licences and last trains change. Know the way home. A sample club card is not a guest list.
Festivals
New Year’s Eve, Sydney Festival, Mardi Gras and Vivid are the dates the city is known for. They are seasonal, they are real, and they are not pinned to this example week. Use their organisers. A sample forecourt card is not a permit.
Tours and outdoors
The coastal walk, the Botanic Garden, Centennial Park, the bridge path and the Manly ferry are the outdoor shapes. The paid bridge climb is a separate company. The sample walks below are not a tour. Check the wind before you treat a headland as a casual stroll.
Plan around the harbour, not around a poster
Do not borrow Vivid
Vivid Sydney is a real lights festival. It is not an example card, and it is not automatically on because you are near the Opera House. Check the year. The same restraint applies to Sydney Festival, Mardi Gras and New Year’s Eve.
Confirm the ferry and the path
Manly boats and the Bondi to Coogee track both close or change for weather and works. A sample card cannot tell you which morning is open.
Leave the Quay before it thins out
The forecourt is a good early night and a windier late one. Eat in Surry Hills or The Rocks, and know whether the train is still running before you order dessert.
FeelingFlexi does not sell tickets. Sample cards are not a checkout. Partner listings in the app are sold by the partner, at the partner’s price.
If you came for Vivid or Mardi Gras, use those calendars. If you came for an ordinary good week, the categories below are the map, and the app is the deck.
Questions
Are these Sydney events real?
No. Each card is an example and says so. There is no ticket link. The writing around the cards names real places and real seasonal events without putting those seasonal events on a fake date.
Where is the Mardi Gras listing?
Not here. Mardi Gras is late summer. Check the year. The same applies to Vivid, Sydney Festival and New Year’s Eve on the harbour.
Where should I look for a real ticket?
FeelingFlexi does not sell tickets on this page. Use the Opera House or the venue’s own schedule, or the FeelingFlexi app, where a partner listing is sold by that partner.
What if I only have one night?
Walk Circular Quay and The Rocks, then eat in Surry Hills. Add a show only if you have already seen one you want. Leave Manly and Bondi for daylight.
